A Behavior Plan that Makes the Grade

We want you to feel jolly about classroom behavior, and holiday break is a good time to step back and evaluate your classroomwide behavior plan. So this week’s FREE tool is a self-assessment checklist to help you evaluate second- and third-tier positive behavior intervention and support (PBIS) in your classroom. Do you have knowledgeable staff to assist in behavior plan implementation? Is there a schoolwide plan to support your efforts? Are families involved? Ask yourself these and other questions to make sure your PBIS program is up to par. The checklist comes from CEC’s, “Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports: A Collection of Articles.” This compact book collects our best essays on behavior from the journal TEACHING Exceptional Children so you can find out what the experts are saying about classroom and schoolwide PBIS strategies. CEC’s Tool of the Week is a free resource designed to support you in your special education practice. Subscribe and it’ll be automatically delivered to your inbox!  Get your Tool of the Week.
