Exploring Science with Literature with Fish is Fish

This week’s Tool is a lesson plan, including follow-up activities, that explores Leo Lionni’s book, Fish is Fish, which highlights scientific ideas within literacy.

Organized around Bloom’s Taxonomy to support a range of thinking levels and to scaffold learning, the Science & Literature Collection materials incorporating 32 popular children’s books can enable a teacher to create a higher-level thinking environment around literature connected with science which motivates reluctant readers. The science concepts are based on the National Science Education Standards and align with most states’ science standards.

This Tool of the Week comes from U-STARS~PLUS Science & Literature Connections.
