Promoting Student Participation and Ownership of the IEP Process

P5943_Engaging_EmpoweringThis week’s FREE tool is a list we should all hang on our conference room walls: Promoting Student Participation and Ownership of the IEP Process. What better way to celebrate the fact we are right smack in the middle of Learning Disabilities Awareness Month than with a list of ways to put students with IEPs in the driver seat! This list comes from the CEC book Engaging and Empowering Families in Secondary Transition. The book highlights the ways families and teachers can work together to prepare students for the highest level of independence they can achieve. One way to do that is to give them ownership of their education and transition. This list will help you start that process.
